My name is Rusty Johnson.  I’m a life-long Hoosier and disabled United States Military Veteran who cares deeply about our children, who are our future and the education policies that shape their upbringing in our state.

Let’s be clear: critical race theory has no place in our schools. It serves to divide, indoctrinate, and push politically motivated social theory upon our children. What happened to the days of teaching basic historical facts and preparing our youth to mature and develop their own views about the world as they study and absorb our nation’s history? Do we no longer trust parents to influence their children’s own upbringing? There are enough attacks on our public school systems without adding such an easy target – taxpayer funded indoctrination of children to believe our country is racist at its core. Last summer, our very own former governor and former Vice President Mike Pence acknowledged that critical race theory equates to racism. If a liberal private college or university wants to teach critical race theory, where legal adults choose to attend and pay for such instruction, that’s their prerogative. It has no place in our K-12 schools.

There’s no denying that our children are influenced by their teachers. Most of us can probably name at least one teacher who served as a role model in our lives, helped us define our strengths and weaknesses as individuals, and challenged us to do more or to be better. Let’s ensure that such influence is derived from positivity, not divisiveness. That our teachers educate our children on historical fact, not politically-motivated theory. I encourage all Indiana politicians to put a stop to this hatefull nonsense.

Biden Vaccine Mandate Protest

Just two days before our nation remembered the 2,977 individuals we lost 20 years ago on 9/11 – our freedom was attacked once again. On September 9, President Biden committed an unprecedented abuse of government power by laying out his plan to require companies with more than 100 employees to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations and weekly testing for their employees. As Americans, our individual liberties are now under attack, not by foreign adversaries, but by our own Commander in Chief.

My name is Rusty Johnson and I’m running for Congress to put a stop to Joe Biden’s overreach, outrageous spending packages that increase our nation’s debt, relaxed immigration policies that put our border at risk, and the Democrats’ efforts to turn America into a socialist country. Today, let’s focus on what happened on September 9.

“Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” Those words are courtesy of President John Adams. To be clear, I believe we should take COVID-19 seriously, as many Hoosiers have lost their lives to this virus that originated in China. Further, taking a stand against mandatory vaccinations does nothing to minimize the loss of others. Joe Biden crossed the line when he spoke about requiring people to get vaccinated instead of encouraging Americans to become vaccinated if they feel comfortable doing so. Telling private businesses they must require their employees to become vaccinated is the type of abuse of power we have come to expect from Democrats, but it represents federal overreach that our founding fathers explicitly tried to prevent from ever happening through our Constitution.

Under no circumstance can any President – Republican or Democrat – do what Joe Biden is trying to do. He’s going to try to force people to get a shot or lose their jobs … he’s trying to run private businesses as if they belong to the federal government … he’s going to create a disaster that has far-reaching consequences. Friends, our individual liberty is at stake.

As a military veteran who served our country and fought to protect the very freedom upon which this country was founded, I cannot sit back and watch Joe Biden attempt to take that freedom away from us. I will not accept a government that mandates that I put a needle in my arm because they think they know better than me about how to protect myself. Rusty’s Speech on Marijuana Legalization

How the State laws would change.

Many people throughout the State of Indiana support the legalization of marijuana.  It is my belief that we should legalize marijuana. 

When we legalize marijuana, let’s tax it.  The same week we pass the Bill to legalize marijuana, we need to pass a Bill stating that disabled, Senior Citizens and Veterans will no longer have to pay property taxes.  Since we have a surplus of 5 billion dollars, we can afford to stop charging them.  Let’s start off with these three groups.  Many of the people in these groups are struggling to pay for their food, clothing and property taxes while waiting for their disability.  Many are losing or have already lost their homes due to this.

After 1 full year of taxing marijuana and the products made from it, CBD and Hemp, we will do away with property taxes for everyone.

By doing so, we take away the State’s burden and struggles to collect property taxes from the people.  The taxes will be automatically taken at the time of the sale.  Also, there will be less foreclosures and Sheriff's Sales because people will not have to pay property taxes.  The people can stay in their homes without any hassle from the State.

When we do away with property taxes, the mortgage payments will go down each month.  Personally, I will be saving over $300.00 a month.  That is a total of $3,600.00 annually.  Who couldn't use that?  Removing property taxes will help the people keep more of their money!

How the Federal laws would change.

Legalize marijuana and place a federal tax on it.  Take one half of the taxes and shore up Social Security.  Pass a Bill preventing politicians from taking money from Social Security.  They can use the other half of the money from the marijuana tax.  Then both parties can stop blaming each other for stealing from Social Security.

While this is considered a new tax, it is also a new taxable item.  We can use some of this money to help pay off the National Debt.

Stop paying other countries who give money to others, especially family members of American Politicians!  They apparently don’t need that amount.  For a period of 5 years, stop paying them anything.  Use the money to pay off our debt. 

Stop paying money to businesses and organizations who give money to others.  Such as Planned Parenthood who receives $500,000,000.00 a year from the US Government.  But then they donate over $400,000,000.00 to Democrat Politicians.  Stop paying them $400,000,000.00 a year!  They apparently do not need it.

Use the money to pay off our National Debt!
